MISSION STATEMENT:
To maintain a high quality of life and stimulate the economic base of the community.

VISION STATEMENT:
To be an economically dynamic community which provides a safe and unique quality of life where all residents can be actively engaged in making Oak Ridge North what a hometown should be.

Oak Ridge North is located on the east side of Interstate 45, nestled amongst pine trees and steadfast oaks, across from The Woodlands Mall, south of the City of Shenandoah, and north of Spring, in south Montgomery County, Texas. Montgomery County was named after General Richard Montgomery of American Revolutionary War fame. Among the early settlers was Benjamin Briggs Goodrich who helped organize the County.

The early population settled in and around the town of Montgomery, the original county seat and the site of the county’s first post office. Between 1847 and 1880, the county had a steady growth that reached 10,154 inhabitants by 1880. Lumbering was the chief industry in the county in the early days and 45 steam sawmills were in operation by 1882. Wagon and plow factories were also established. The International Great Northern Railroad was extended across the county in 1871 with additional lines following. New towns developed along the railroads. By 1889 the population in Conroe had climbed to an estimated 300 and in that year, Conroe replaced Montgomery as county seat.

The City of Oak Ridge North began in 1966 as the Oak Ridge Subdivision, a development of Associated Properties, Inc. In 1978, prompted by concerns of annexation by the City of Houston, the Oak Ridge North Civic Club was formed by citizens of the community in order to investigate the possibility of incorporation and to determine how to provide better local police protection. In response to these concerns, the "Town of Oak Ridge North" was incorporated in January of 1979. The incorporation included all of the original subdivision, with the exception of land in Houston's Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ). In April 1979, G.W. (Bud) Roesler was elected as the town's first mayor. Under his administration, the name was changed to the City of Oak Ridge North and G.M. Cox was named the first police chief.

The City of Oak Ridge North is a community of approximately 3,600 residents, has approximately 155 commercial enterprises, and encompasses an area of two square miles. We are a zoned community and have excellent major retail opportunities with I-45 frontage, as well as excellent neighborhood business district or light manufacturing availablities with excellent frontage.

The City's slogan, "What a hometown should be" is indicative of the comfortable, laid-back atmosphere, charm and quality of life here. Our City staff is helpful, competent and responsive, as well as sophisticated and perceptive, with an insightful vision of the City's future potential. Our police department is widely known and recognized as being an extremely effective crime deterrent with proficient Code Enforcement efforts to maintain high property values. With comparatively low property tax rates in the area, (currently $.70/$100), Oak Ridge North is truly a delightful place to live, work or play.
